Wendell Lee Burden

Wendell Lee Burden, age 62 of Morgantown, KY, was known for his friendly demeanor, gentle spirit, and selfless nature, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Ohio County Hospital in Hartford, Kentucky. Born on October 17, 1963, in Ohio County, Wendell's life was a testament to the power of kindness.

Wendell was the beloved son of Ezra and Nellie Opaline Peay Burden, who preceded him in death, along with his nephew Mark Morris. He is survived by his three siblings, Carolyn Swift, Michael Burden, and Charles Ezra Burden along with his wife Denise all of Morgantown, KY, as well by his several nieces and nephews.

Wendell attended MT Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, but his commitment to his community was further exemplified by his remarkable 36-year tenure with Houchens Industries, where he not only contributed to the company but also formed lasting friendships and bonds that extended well beyond the workplace. Wendell loved to dance, he had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and his eagerness to lend a helping hand were qualities that drew people to him. Wendell was also affectionately known as a "Momma's Boy," a title he wore proudly, embodying the deep love and respect he held for his mother and family.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 12:00pm with Bro. Paul Parks and Bro. David Daugherty officiating. Burial will be in the MT Vernon Church Cemetery where his family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm and Wednesday 8:00am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
