June Harbison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hobbs Funeral Home - South Portland on Dec. 14, 2025.
June Elaine Harbison
January 14, 1946 – December 4, 2025

June Elaine Harbison, born January 14, 1946, in Houlton, Maine, passed away on December 4, 2025, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a brief illness.

The daughter of Harvey and Doris Currie Harbison, June grew up in Houlton and in 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, John T. Fitzpatrick. Together they built a home full of love and laughter, raising two children, Andrew John Fitzpatrick and Kelly Fitzpatrick Martin, who were her greatest pride. John and June spent many wonderful summers at Drews Lake while their children were growing up, creating lifelong memories.

June was deeply involved in her community during her years in Houlton. She volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary, co-chaired the annual Charity Ball, chaperoned her kids' school trips, and served as a Cub Scout pack leader for Andy and his friends. She continued her volunteer work as her grandchildren grew, supporting South Portland schools with the same enthusiasm.

A woman who lived actively, June loved aerobics classes, walking, running, and yoga. When her children were in high school, she managed the local office supply store and later pursued her real estate broker's license, a career she greatly enjoyed. After the sudden loss of her husband John, June moved to the Portland area in 1997 and worked for several years at the GM Pollack & Sons business office in Scarborough, bringing a smile to all she met.

In 2009, June moved to South Portland with her beloved Labradoodles, Josie and Ecko. She took great joy in walking Josie and Ecko to Willard Beach, Bug Light, and Fort Williams, sharing countless hours of fresh air, laughter, and friendship with neighbors and fellow dog walkers. June was a humble artist, a voracious reader, a beloved member of her Elsmere Avenue community, and a devoted grandmother/"Mamie", taking great pride in her five grandchildren's accomplishments.

She was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Doris Harbison; her husband, John; her sister, Janice Searway. June is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Randy) Martin, and their children, Elisa, Madeline, and Patrick; and her son, Andy (Kim) Fitzpatrick, and their children, John and Joshua.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Gosnell Hospice for their compassionate care and support during June's final days.

Visitation will be held at Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., with family remarks at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland or Houlton's Cary Library.
