June Marie Leach, of Virginia Beach, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully on Oct 3, 2025, at the age of 93, after a 6-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Even with Alzheimer's June never waivered from her love of family, friends and above all her faith. She always felt God was preparing her a place in heaven and would let her know when the time was right.
Born to Harry and Anna Ferrell on February 8, 1932, in Lansdowne, PA, June was the only girl with 5 brothers. She always said those 5 brothers took care of her but also helped her to toughen up when she needed to be. In 1959 June married her one love William Kenneth (Ken) Leach in Springfield, PA, and then moved to Virginia Beach where they spent their lives together.
June is survived by her two sons William (Bill) Edward, and his wife Sandra of Kitty Hawk, NC, and Mark Kenneth and his wife Linda of Virginia Beach. June has 5 grandchildren, Mark and Linda's children, Heather and Morgan, and Bill and Sandy's children, William, Caitlyn, and Noah. June also has 3 great grandchildren; Heather's girls Kenna(6) and Emmie(4) and her newest grandchild, Morgan's little boy Declan, (6 months). June is also survived by her youngest brother Albert, of Fuquay Varina, NC.
June was a person strong in faith, loved her family and friends and enjoyed working in her yard. She was always busy and enjoyed doing things for others. She loved to talk about her boys and did so with a smile on her face. She also loved her extended family and always welcomed them into her home.
June also loved her neighbors and would often take care of their children on a part time or regular basis for several years. She taught Children's Sunday School for different age groups and Vacation Bible School. She just loved the children, especially her grandchildren.
Later in life, June worked in the women's sales department of Montgomery Ward in Norfolk and Virginia Beach for over 20 years until she retired. June was very good at her job, moving from a part-time associate to area supervisor. Because of her smile and wanting to help anyone at any time, people saw her as a true example of southern hospitality.
A "Celebration of Life" service will be held 2pm, Thursday Oct 23 at Foundry United Methodist Church, 2801 Va Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, Va 23452. Flowers may be sent to the church and for those who wish to remember June in a special way may make a gift in her memory to the Children's Program at Foundry UMC, as a fitting tribute to her love of teaching children about her Lord and Savior.
