June Therese Peters passed away peacefully into the arms of God on May 10, 2025. Born on June 28, 1928, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Ellen Peters of Sacramento. She is predeceased by her parents and siblings, Monsignor Roy Peters and Marge Albouze.

Educated by the Sisters of Mercy at Sacred Heart School and St. Joseph Academy, June pursued a career in journalism working as a writer and editor for the Sacramento Bee. Her family roots and education planted within her a passion to serve those in need. In her retirement she volunteered as an English teacher for the Sacramento Food Bank. As a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Parish, her faith was firmly planted in her Catholic heritage serving in many ministries including being a sandwich maker for the homeless, and a longtime member of the Altar Society. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered for Mercy Hospital. Later she would spread joy and built lasting friendships with the staff and residents of Mercy McMahon Terrace. Gentle, compassionate and possessing a great sense of humor, she left for friends and collaborators a legacy of loving mercy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for her at St. Mary's Cemetery Chapel on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 10am, at 6509 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento 95820. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of your choice.
