June Scarlata Obituary

June E. (McNally) Scarlata June 20, 1928 - May 31, 2025

June E. McNally Scarlata of Robbinsville, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home on May 31, 2025. She was 96 years old.

Born on June 20, 1928, in Worcester, Massachusetts, June spent her early years there before moving to Reading, PA. At just 14, she began working at a local candy store to help support her family—a sign of the hardworking spirit that would define her life.

June later lived in Lawrenceville and Ewing before settling in Robbinsville, where she enjoyed the last 24 years as part of the Newtown Village community. A familiar face to many, she worked for many years at the well-known Pat's Diner on Broad Street and later at Parkside Diner. Her friendly smile and love of conversation made her a favorite among customers and coworkers alike.

June was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfonso J. Scarlata Sr., her parents, Ethel and James McNally, her daughter Diane Scarlata Dickover of Whippany, and her brother Robert McNally of Maine, her stepfather Francis C. Archiblad of Robbinsville.

She is survived by her son, Alfonso J. Scarlata Jr., and his wife Cathy; her sister-in law Eileen Shea McNally of Maine; her nephew Joseph Scarlata, his wife Donna, (thank you for the help over the years) and their sons Anthony and Nickolas of Hamilton; nephews Thomas Orlando (Susan) of South Carolina and Ralph Orlando (Ellen) of North Carolina; and niece Deborah McNally Fryer (Bruce).

June will also be fondly remembered by many dear friends and neighbors. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who helped make her later years joyful and full of care: Angelo Barone, Marie Irvin, Jacqueline Cepas, Carla Didonato, Sam and Sally Lombardo, Joe, (thanks for the help with the lawn), Virginia (Ginny) Horan—who spoke with June daily for many years—and Barbara Tashjian, whose friendship and love spanned over seven decades.

June had a vibrant, determined spirit. She was always ready to try new things, held knowledge on countless topics, and yes—she was wonderfully stubborn. She could most often be found tending to her yard and garden, her green thumb evident in the lush grass and blooming flowers that surrounded her home. June was quick to help others—family, friends, or strangers in need—offering kindness and support without hesitation.

A golden heart has stopped beating, and hardworking hands have come to rest. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone—for a part of us went with you the day God called you home.

You will forever be missed and remembered, deep in our hearts.

Love always & forever,

Al & Cathy xxxxo
