Joseph Richard Cantara

Joseph “Richard” Cantara, 84 died at home surrounded by family on March 6,2026. Born on July 15, 1941, in Lewiston, me to the parents of Albert and Grace Cantara.

Richard was a long-time resident of Trenton, NJ where he met the love of his life. Richard and Nancy “DiCicco” Cantara were married on October 14, 1961, for 64 wonderful Years.

Richard graduated from Rider College. He began his career in Finance and accounting with McGraw Hill and moved on to other publishing companies in NY City. He left the city to work in Princeton for Hilton Realty as Controller, where he worked for over 30 years.

Richard was an avid fisherman, He enjoyed spending weekends on his boat, the Five C’eas. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also liked traveling, cooking and watching UCONN Women’s Basketball.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy, his three daughters Paula Cantara and spouse Cheryl Race, Denise Steber and husband Michael, Renee Rouse and husband Thomas, grandchildren Derek Paul, Kiersten Paul, Gabrielle Steber and Angelina Steber and great-granddaughter Brynlee Leonard and sister Constance Bourgeois and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother Roland Cantara and sisters Carmen Cantara, Lorraine Schienk, Yolande Cantara and Anita Bourgeois.
