June Eleanor Thompson of Toccoa, GA passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at the age of 82. Born on June 10, 1942 in Schenectady, New York, she was the daughter of the late Otis Clements and Eleanor Springfels.
As a self made woman, June was co-founder and President of Abaco Inc., a chemical company she built alongside her husband, William. Upon retiring from Abaco Inc., she became heavily involved with the local Humane Society, strongly advocating for the ethical treatment, care and responsible ownership of all varieties of pets, especially dogs. With a loving heart, June's favorite philanthropy was the local animal population. She generously supported local organizations that provide care and medical treatments for animals, and she worked tirelessly for many years to assist with the provision of adoption services for those without a home. June's love and compassion was felt by all of those who knew her as she gave unsparingly of her time, effort and financial support to those around her in need. She is loved and will be truly missed.
June is survived by her husband, William Thompson; four children, Eugene Rea, Victoria Rea, Julianne Holmes and Andrew Rea; two sisters, Gale Clements-Savage and Nancy Allison; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Whitlock Mortuary from 7:00pm – 9:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter at 1747 Scenic Drive, Toccoa, GA 30577.
