He was an active member of several organizations, including the Burlington Antique Car Club, Thunderbird Car Club, Road Motorcycle Club, Keokuk Coin Club, and the local Masonic Lodge. Later in life, he became a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Hamilton. Family was able to help him celebrate his 90th birthday with an Elvis Presley themed party, which he helped plan.
