Junior (Jay) Reece age 94 of Roanoke, VA and formerly of Florence, SC passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2025 in the VA Medical Hospital in Salem, VA. He was born on August 17, 1930 a son of the late Frank and Anna Ward Reece. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Collier of Carolton, TX; brothers, Samuel Reece of Houston, TX, Charles Reece of Clearwater, SC, Ben Reece of Columbus, TX, and David Reece of Wimberly, TX; his former wife, Carol Reece of St. Helena, SC.
He graduated from Moneta High School in Moneta, SC and service in the US Army from 1948 to 1952 in Germany. He worked in sales with Georgia Wholesale Electric. Georgia Electric became part of Cameron Barkley. He worked for 36 years in electrical wholesale and earned several presidential cups in wholesale electric.
He was active in the Masons and served as Worshipful Master with the Kadosh Lodge #181 A.F.M. in 1965. He was also active in the Kiwanis Club in Florence, SC. Jay excelled in golf, ballroom dancing and woodworking and he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Magdalene Reece; sister, Brenda Potter of Orlando, FL; son, Rusty Reece (Wendy); grandsons, Kyle and Hunter all of Augusta, GA; stepdaughters, Diane Keith (Tim) of Beaufort, SC, Laura (LuLu) and her husband Chris Collom of Burton, SC, Laura (Joe) Roanoke, VA, Ann (Barry) of Belfast, ME; stepson, Brian (Brenda) of Roanoke, VA. He is also survived by several step-grandsons and step-granddaughters and their spouses, many step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, Juanita Turbeville of Augusta, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice or to the House of Hope,1020 W. Darlington Street, Florence, SC 29501
A Celebration of His Life will be held in the springtime with burial in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
