Juone Holloway Yates

Jane Juone Holloway Yates, age 86, of Bowdon, passed away on December 24, 2025. She was born on October 6, 1939, in Falkville, Alabama, to the late Ernest and Dorothy Shoemake Holloway.
Juone graduated from Roopville High School in 1957 and built a life defined by hard work and devotion to her family. She worked for many years as a seamstress at Sewell Manufacturing before later retiring from Bremen Bowdon Investment. Those who knew Juone knew her as steady, dependable, and deeply committed to those she loved.
Family was at the center of Juone's life. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn (Don) Bass of Bowdon; daughter Lisa Carr of Carrollton; daughter, Kimberly Yates of Bowdon; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff (Tammy) Yates of Bowdon; three grandchildren, Cherie Willis (Brandon), Scott Yates (Hannah) and Kurt Yates (Brittany); six great grandchildren, Tyler Willis, Caidon Willis, (Her Bones) Jensen Yates, Garner Yates, Presley Yates and Lynden Yates.
She is also survived by her sisters and brothers in law, Joyce and Wayne Prestridge of Carrollton, Brenda and Mike Fuller of Orange Beach, AL, and Gail and Paul Widener of Bowdon; cousins Jo (Johnny) Stitcher, Linda (Ricky) Brock, Jane Redden, Chris & Tony Shoemake who she was raised with, as well as several nieces and nephews, including Debbie (John) Pesa, Dave (Lorrie) Dettling, Janice (Pottsy) Potts, Sherry (Lee) Stringfellow, Mike Prestridge, Wanda Prestridge, Angie (Matt) White, Chris (Dale) Fields, Craig (Kimberley) Widener and Scott (Ashley) Widener.
In addition to her parents, Juone was preceded in death by her husband, Sammie A. Yates; her father- and mother-in-law, Clyde and Mamie Lou Marlow Yates; Uncle C.C. and Aunt Betty Shoemake; her son-in-law, Howell Carr; her sister and brother-in-law, Gene and Joann Dettling; and nephews Jeff Dettling and Lance Burson.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel, with Rev. Paul Widener officiating. Interment will follow in Veal Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Dettling, Jody Marlow, Aaron "Pottsy" Potts, Jimmy Strain, Brandon Willis, Caidon Willis, Scott Yates, and Kurt Yates. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Stitcher and Tyler Willis.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:30 PM until 2:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veal Community Cemetery and mailed to Mr. Dwayne Marlow, 187 Hopewell Road, Roopville, GA 30170.
