With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dr. Justin M. Powell, 34, who peacefully passed away in his sleep on Friday, November 1, 2024.
Justin was born in Clarksville, TN, and lived in several locations around the world as a child of a military family. He graduated high school from The First Academy in Orlando, FL, where he enjoyed playing baseball. Led by his passion for helping others and providing for the community he loved, he earned his bachelor's degree in biology from the University of West Florida in 2016 and his Doctor of Pharmacy from Marshall University in 2018.
He is survived by his wife Ashley, daughter Adalynn, parents Rich and Heather Powell, brother James, sister-in-law Maren, grandparents Clarence and Sue Powell of Orlando, FL, aunts Gina, Maria, and Sherry, uncles Mike, David, Benny, and Todd, and many cousins, sharing a special bond with Kayla and her daughter Charlie. Justin and Ashley's marriage brought his in-laws, Mike and Amanda Dodson of Pace, FL, into his family.
After graduating from Marshall, Justin and Ashley moved to Pace, FL, where they became successful and beloved pharmacists in their community. Justin held numerous pharmacist roles throughout his career and always set his sights on achieving his next goal. He left a positive mark in each endeavor he took on. Justin always ensured his patients received the best care possible.
But his most cherished roles were those of a deeply loving and generous husband, father, son, and brother. Justin spent as much time as possible surrounded by family. All located nearby, Justin, Ashley, Adalynn, Rich, Heather, Mike, and Amanda shared a uniquely close relationship as one cohesive, inseparable family. He was the glue that brought everyone together. He often shared his daily thoughts with the entire family as an expression of love, understanding, and clarity. Justin also enjoyed leading family trips all over the country or keeping a full schedule of local events, which created treasured memories for everyone. He made the most of every moment of his short time on Earth.
The love Justin had for Ashley and Adalynn was immeasurable, perfect, and pure.
Justin was beloved for his sense of humor, fun-loving nature, and thoughtfulness. Even on the hardest days, his humor provided comfort and assurance. Justin lit up any room he walked into and he met no stranger, befriending everyone he met. He had a special way of keeping in contact with friends from all stages of his life, even in all the craziness today's life brings.
His loss is immeasurable, but his memory is a God-sent blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Justin was a compass and a light for his family. We will now seek his guidance by asking ourselves, "What would Justin do?"
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church, 6205 North W Street, Pensacola, FL 32505.
Visiting hours: 9-10 a.m.
Funeral service: 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery, 8008 Chumuckla Hwy Pace, FL 32571.
