Oba Justine Garrett Ansell, affectionately known as Justine to her loved ones, departed this life on the 23rd day of October, 2025, in her hometown of Dublin, Georgia. Born on February 12, 1930, under the wise and loving guidance of Ambrey H. Garrett and Hattie Grant Garrett, Justine spent her early years in Dublin before moving to Hialeah, Florida. It was in Hialeah that she met and married Donald before returning to Dublin in 1975. A beacon of unwavering faith and love, Justine embodied the essence of Christian values. She dedicated her life to serving others through her longstanding association with Bethesda Baptist Church and later with Pine Forest Methodist Church. In her many years of nurturing hearts as a Sunday school teacher, she gracefully created lasting impacts on countless individuals, spanning both children and adult ministries within the Laurens Baptist Association. Her deep devotion to her faith was evident in all her interactions and endeavors. She also enjoyed singing and was active in her choir for many years. Justine's dedication was mirrored in her professional life, having retired from a rewarding career with Dr. George Evans Urology Associates. Her roles were not merely occupations but avenues through which she instilled care and comfort in the lives of others. Her warm presence and supportive nature were well-known among colleagues and patients alike, marking her as a cornerstone of the medical community she served with distinction. Her roots run deep in the heart of her family. She carved out a legacy through her lineage; her dear daughter, Audrey Ansell Griner (Joel), and cherished granddaughter, Jamie Michele Griner, both of Dublin, will carry forward the light she so generously shared. Justine was also a beloved sister to Pat Evans (Dr. George), Dorothy Wilson, Joy Ikner, and Phyllis Brown (Ray). In her nurturing embrace, a host of nieces and nephews found a second mother, ensuring her influence would live on for generations. Preceding her in passing were her treasured husband, Donald Richard Ansell, and her brothers, Ronald, Edsel, Ethridge, and Loman Garrett, all of whom enriched her life with love and laughter. She now joins her parents, siblings, and husband in eternal peace. Described as loving and faith-filled, Justine's interests never waned from what she held dear – spending quality time with her family. The matriarch of a close-knit clan, she relished in the joys of togetherness, her contentment found in the simple pleasures of shared stories and moments. Justine's kind spirit, generous heart, and keeping of faith will be dearly missed. Her memory lives on not only through her family but also through the multitudes of lives she touched with her profound empathy and unselfish giving. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. As she enters the Kingdom of Heaven, we take comfort knowing she is at peace, watching over us with the same love and guidance she bestowed in life. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 27, 2025 in the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral service. Rev. Barron Powell will officiate. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
