Karen "Annie" Almgren Obituary
Karen “Annie” Almgren, age 83, passed away at her home in Bloomer on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with leukemia. She was born on April 20, 1942, in Chippewa County to Floyd and Johanna (Petska) Polanski. She married Frederick Almgren on January 23, 1965, at Saint Stephen’s Catholic Church in St. Paul, Minn. Annie worked as a clerk for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in Minneapolis, Minn and retired as customer service representative for BNSF in St. Cloud, Minn after 30 years of service. She enjoyed golf, shopping, and going up to Birch Point Resort visiting with her friends.
Annie is survived by her sons: Jeffrey Almgren of Clearbrook, Minn and Joel Almgren of Bloomer; brother: Richard "Dick" Polanski; 2 grandchildren: Amanda and Jacob Almgren; one great-grandchild: Trevor Almgren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Fred in 2023; parents: Floyd and Johanna Polanski; and K-9 companion: Sammie.
Private graveside services will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
