Karen Sue Conant (Gaston) was born April 27th, 1946, to Byron E. and Betty B. (Sams) Gaston. She passed away Saturday June 15th, 2024 at Doctor’s West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio

She worked in the field as a caregiver to those in need for many years. She had a wonderful, kind, and generous heart.

She married the love of her life and soul mate Robert G. Conant Sr., February 11th, 1985.

She is survived by brother Byron (Gene) Gaston Jr., 2 sisters Lucy Gaston, Penny Dotson, sister-in-laws Laura Conant, Patricia (Carol aka Pat) Patterson and a daughter Jacqueline (Thomas) Wilcoxson, step-daughters Cherie Williams, Carol (Randy) Webb, a step-son Robert (Renee) Conant Jr., grandson Thomas J. Wilcoxson, 2 granddaughters Rachel (Hutchinson) (Tyler) Milner, and Rachel Wilcoxson, step-grandsons Jerry Cook, III, Michael Oltmann, James Conant, Josiah Conant, step-granddaughters Gwendolyn (Yon) Coleman, Sandra Oltmann, Miranda Oltmann, Sara Williams, Alicia Walker, Megan Brunney, Judy Conant, Jodie (Cory) Demarco, Jenifer Wilcoxson, Stacie Smith and several great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, step-great-nieces, and nephews. 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brother James Gaston, brother in-laws Palmer (Jeanie) Conant, Carl (Mabel) Conant, and sister-in-law Mona Romine, 2 sons Ricky Hutchinson and Lloyd Johnson Jr., uncles Charles (Bernice) Gaston, Richard (Hazel) Gaston, William (Roberta aka Bobbie) Gaston, Paul (Margaret-Jane) Gaston, James (Vivian) Gaston, aunt Evelyn Gaston (Clifford) Smith. 

The funeral is Jun 24th at Hughes Funeral Home viewing/visiting hours at 11:00 am funeral at 1:00 pm. The address is 168 Morris Ave Athens, Ohio 45701 and buried at The Hocking Cemetery, the cemetery on Johnson Road (County Road 7), The Plains, Ohio 45780.  Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at ehwfh.com.
