Karen DeLoatch

Ms. Karen DeLoatch passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at her home in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, in Rockville, Maryland and broadcast via Zoom. Karen DeLoatch was born Karen Lorette Rosemond on September 3, 1956, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Flint, Michigan. She was the second child of Wilma and Quimby Rosemond. Karen attended elementary school at Scott and Walker elementary schools, went to Whittier Junior High School, and graduated from Flint Central High School in 1974. She received her bachelor's degree in history from the University of Michigan in 1978 and went on to receive a Master of Library Science degree from Clark Atlanta University, and a Master's degree in Educational Technology from Michigan State University. She began working as a librarian and also worked as a library administrator and instructor at Capital Community College (now CT Community College-Capital) in Hartford, Connecticut in 1984. She remained there until her retirement in early 2025.
Karen is survived by her brother Dr. Hakim Rashid (Ameedah), nieces Ameenah Rashid and Taheerah Boyd (Jermaine), and nephew Adam Rashid, ten grand nephews and nieces, and a host of cousins around the country.
