Mrs. Karen E. Hartlieb, 68, of Erie Blvd., Canajoharie died on October 3, 2023, at the Mt. Valley Hospice House, following a brief battle with cancer.
She was born in Amsterdam, NY on January 27, 1955, the daughter of Perley Belknap and Elizabeth Moore Belknap, both who predeceased her.
Karen graduated from Johnstown High School, class of 1973. After graduation she went on to obtain her beauticians license in Schenectady, NY.
Using this license she owned and operated her business, Karen About Hair, for over 30 years.
She was a lifetime area resident, attended the former St. Peter and Paul's Roman Catholic Church, and was a member of the Canajoharie Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Aux., but most of all loved being with her family.
On September 22, 1973, in Johnstown, NY she married Michael C. Hartlieb.
She was predeceased in death by her parents; her sister Jill Eads; brothers Bobby, Dennis and Jimmy Belknap; sister-in-law Linda Belknap; brother-in-law Rodney Terry; and granddaughter Taylor Brooke Harrison.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Michael C. Hartlieb; daughter Bonnie (Lyndon) Harrison; sons Michael (Fabiola) Hartlieb and Thomas and fiancé Juanita; siblings, Jack (Brenda) Belknap, Pete Belknap, Brian (Mary Lou) Belknap, Mary Ellen Terry, Heidi (Terry) Ambrosino, and Billy Belknap; grandchildren Victoria Harrison and Olivia Harrison and Michael Hartlieb and Monica Hartlieb, and Persephone, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 4:00-7:00 PM on Monday October 9th, 2023, at Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A prayer service follows at 7:00 at the funeral home.
