Karen was born in Norfolk, VA, on March 18, 1959, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elaine (Goguen) Goguen and was a 1977 graduate of St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg.
Karen worked in the office at Digital Equipment Corporation for many years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed traveling to Disney World, doing puzzles, watching movies, and reading the Bible.
Her husband Richard F. "Sarge" Hawthorne, passed away in March 2025. She leaves her son Zachary Brousseau of Bradenton, FL; three sisters, Joyce Lehtinen of Fitchburg, Sandra Goguen Young of Florida, Deborah Lindberg of Holden; her former husband, Mark Brouseau and his wife Ana of Florida and many nephews and nieces.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at 11:30 AM in the Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg followed by a burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. A calling hour in the funeral home will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11:30AM
