Karen A. Impson, 75, of Pleasant Plains, Illinois, passed away peacefully March 9th, 2025, in Springfield, Illinois.
Karen was born September 12th, 1949, to A.H. "Tex" & Sarah (nee Tolan) Spitzer in Springfield, Illinois. She graduated from Pleasant Plains High School and was a proud University of Illinois graduate. To know Karen meant to know her love of horses. She was a lifetime member of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society. She was extremely connected with her horses, and they had a bond like no one else. Karen's grandfather, Garrett Tolan, was one of the first Black Angus Cattle Ranchers in the United States and she kept his legacy alive by showing Black Angus Cattle at every State Fair in the United States.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, Thomas "Tom" R. Impson. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Greg Spitzer, and Gary Spitzer.
A Visitation will be held Friday, March 14th, 2025, from 4:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home, 122 W. Douglas, Petersburg, Illinois 62675. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Karen's name to the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of America, 720 Green St, Stephens City, VA 22655.
