Dr. Karen L. Justice passed away December 26, 2024. Karen was born November 2, 1951, in Tyler, Texas to John and Lynne Justice. Karen attended the University of Texas where she earned dual degrees in Journalism and Psychology while serving as co editor of the student newspaper, the Daily Texan.
Following her graduation in 1973, Karen decided to pursue her true passion, the practice of medicine and spent several years completing additional coursework in furtherance of that goal. Karen graduated from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in 1981 and thereafter enjoyed a successful career as a pathologist. Tragically, her medical career was terminated when she suffered debilitating and permanent injuries from an automobile accident. Karen persevered through numerous operations and health challenges for the remainder of her life. Karen was an avid reader, pet lover and, in her off time prior to her disability, particularly loved to scuba dive enjoying numerous diving trips around the world. Karen will be remembered for, among other attributes, her intellectual curiosity, integrity, and love for family and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her father, John Justice, and is survived by her loving family including mother Lynne Justice, brother, Deets Justice and wife Janet, nephews, Spencer Justice, Trent Justice and Forrest Justice as well as niece, Carolyn Justice. The family wishes to thank The Hospice of East Texas for the wonderful and compassionate care received by Karen.
