It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Karen Jean Hott Leatherman, who left us peacefully on June 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Karen was the daughter of the late Sylvester Eugene "Gene" Hott and Nellie L. VanMeter Hott. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Leatherman. Mom and Dad are together again, reunited in eternal peace. Their love, which shaped our lives and our family, now carries on beyond this world.
Karen was a woman whose heart knew no limits when it came to her family. She was known to everyone as Mawmaw. She was a constant source of love, strength, and kindness. Her greatest joy in life, was being with her children and most especially, her grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life. Her grandbabies were her world, and she made every effort to be present for every birthday, school event, holiday, and quiet everyday moments.
She cherished every hug, every milestone, and every story shared with them, and in return, they adored her beyond measure: Whether it was baking together, cheering from the sidelines, or simply offering warm, listening arms. She gave them a sense of love and belonging that will live on in their hearts forever.
Karen had been employed as a housekeeper at Dawn View Nursing Home.
Karen is survived by her siblings, Kenneth Hott and wife Doris, and Brian Hott and wife Amber. Her children include Michelle Burns, Andrea Fields and husband Ben, and Bobby Leatherman and wife Heather. Karen is also survived by her loving grandbabies: Meagan, Autumn, Gage, Briar, Sadie, and Bristol; great, grandkids, Kinley, Konnor Addison, and Avery; and, a special niece, Cherish.
Her love was our great gift, and it will remain with us always.
Per her request, the arrangements are private.
