Karen Adele Lewton

Karen Adele Lewton, a lifelong resident of Clawson, passed away peacefully at her home on November 9, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born in Pontiac, Michigan, on November 3, 1953, Karen was the daughter of Philip and Helen (née Weisenberger) Theisen. She grew up in Royal Oak and was a proud graduate of Kimball High School, class of 1971.
Karen dedicated more than 25 years to teaching optical, dental, and medical programs at a vocational school, where she inspired countless students with her knowledge, patience, and sense of humor. She retired in 2017.
In her free time, Karen loved spending time "up north" in Michigan's thumb, where she found peace and joy in the outdoors. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness. She was known for her love of Great Danes and took great pride in being a devoted grandmother and great friend.
Karen is survived by her son, Jason (Anna) Lewton; her beloved grandchildren, Spencer Lewton and Benjamin Lewton; her brother, James (Laurie) Theisen; her nieces and nephews, Emily Theisen and Jack Theisen; and her best friend, Doug Lewton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Darlene Theisen.
