In Loving Memory Of BETTY LOU (MANIS) CLIFTON Born in Tribbey, Kentucky August 10, 1931 – Died in St Clair Shores, Michigan November 2, 2025
Betty was the youngest Daughter of Clifford and Belle (Vermillion) Manis. She grew up in a loving Family with 2 Sisters and 3 Brothers. Betty graduated from Hazard High and went to work as a Bookkeeper at the Hazard Laundromat. At the age of 20, she left her home in Kentucky to start a new life in California. There, Betty married and started her Family. She moved to Michigan 6 years later where she lived for the rest of her life.
Betty's Family meant everything to her and she did everything she could for them. She was a devoted Mom to her 3 Daughters and Daughter-in-Law. Betty was a generous Grandma to 3 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and 5 Grand Cats. Betty loved her entire Family unconditionally.
Betty worked at Sears-Livonia in their Accounting Dept for 20 years. She worked with a great group of Women who enjoyed a weekly game of Pinochle. Then she found her dream job at Hudsons/Marshall Fields/Macys - Eastland in Women's clothing. Betty was often told she was the best dressed person in the Store. She was an original "fashionista" as she loved her clothes, bags, shoes and jewelry. Betty retired after 34 years but, longed to be back at work as she missed her wonderful Co-Workers and Customers.
Betty was a homebody but, did enjoy some traveling. She spent a week each Summer with her Parents in Lexington, KY where the whole extended Family got together for a Reunion. Great times were had eating and playing Horseshoes. Betty also visited the Grand Canyon and Epcot Center. She toured the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC, took a weeks vacation in Nassau-Bahamas, sailed on the Tall Ship in Traverse City, MI and watched Dancing with the Stars live in Grand Rapids, MI.
Betty passed peacefully at home from complications of Alzheimer's. Her final resting place will be next to her mother and father in Hazard, KY. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, you may send a donation to Compassus Hospice Care.
There are not enough words to describe how much she will be missed! We Thank her for the Love she gave, the Integrity she had and the Values she shared! To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Betty, please visit our floral store.

I'm not sure where to start. I always referred to Betty as " Betty Lou" ever since I was in high school with Susan. I remember most her daughters were her world. She did so much for them and enjoyed it. She helped me as well and the depths to which she help me, she will never know. I adored her! She would do without as long as everyone else had what they needed. My heart breaks for the suffering she had been through but she had the best care through it all. My sincere condolences to Susan, Sherry, and Deb. Make your mom proud. I know you are pain-free and resting in peace. Until we meet again, much love Betty Lou
