Karen Mitchell (nee Moir) was born on August 25, 1956, to her proud parents, James III and Mary Ann Moir. She was the firstborn of five and she was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, and great-aunt. Karen had a brief and brave battle with cancer and died peacefully at home on December 10, 2021, with her mother and sisters by her side. She was 65 years old.
Karen graduated with her BA from Baldwin Wallace University and later earned her MBA. She worked for over 20 years for First Federal of Lakewood as a Banking Auditor. She was a meticulous banker and loved to save money for herself and her family. Karen loved sports and she was an avid sports fan. Professional football was her favorite and she looked forward to watching the Cleveland Browns on Sundays. She was a golfer and a Trekkie, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her family. Karen was especially fond of her 8 nieces and nephews, but it was her great-nieces and nephews that had her whole heart. She was the best aunt and great-aunt, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Karen married her true love Carlton Mitchell, and they were together for 39 years, until his death in 2018. She leaves (behind) her mother, Mary Ann Moir (nee Elkovich); sisters, Arlene Jaroscak (Mark), Robbin Lomax (Robert), Marilan Moir (Dawn Cooksey), and Sheri Eyring (Edward); her beloved nieces and nephews, Jennifer Tillery (John), Christopher Jaroscak (Leah), John Moir (Christina), Robert Lomax, Jr. (Farah), Elizabeth Firestone, Evan Firestone, Leela Cooksey, and Benjamin Vick (Lauren); and 12 great-nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her dear husband Carlton; her father James Moir, III; and her grandparents, Stephen and Mary Elkovich and James and Matilda Moir.
