Chris and I are sorry that we cannot be there for and with the family.
Karen was one of my "older" cousins so I didn't know her very well. Was in my 30s or 40s before I remember actually talking to her yet she seemed to know about me.
She took some pretty good ribbing and handled it well at family reunions when we viewed Rick's slide show. That's what I remember best.
This note was written by my dad for my aunt but it still has relevancy today. Hope it helps.
When God fashioned the human heart, he left an empty room therein, fitted and ready for love and tenderness, praying each recipient would eventually fill it as intended.
Because of the inherent properties of love and the temporal nature of visible man, He must have known every ounce stored there, contained within itself, the possibility of grief. He must have decided that love was so essential in the relationships between His children, and the glory and ecstasy would so far outweigh the grief, that He must make it available. And it was so.
Then, He diluted the pain with tears and ordered time to make the sorrow bearable. God is all good, therefore weeping must be right and good through the time appointed.
I would only say, don´t try to hold back the tears and bottle up the grief, but let your heart cleanse itself in the way God intended and through the ordered time, the grief will evolve into a sweet/sad memory, more sweet than sad.
