Karen Marie Thomann (nee White), 72, was born in Trenton, New Jersey, on August 3, 1953. She passed away, surrounded by her family, on August 21, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Betty (DelGallo) White, and by her sister, Colleen White.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Frank Thomann, two sons, Eric (Carrie) Thomann and Mark (Meredith) Thomann; her three grandsons, Jake, Brantly, and Caleb; two brothers, Tom White and Jude (Nancy) White; and two sisters, Lynnette (Ken) Ross, and Peggy Cain.

Karen lived a life of love, compassion, dedication, and service to others. She was the music teacher and librarian at Escambia Christian School for 30 Years. She especially enjoyed it when former students would bring their children to be her students.

As a member of the Gateway Church of Christ, Karen was active in the Heartfelt ladies' ministry program. She was the epitome of a mature Christian woman teaching the younger women in the ways of the Lord.

Karen's passion was cooking. Her love language was food – and she spoke it fluently. She used her talents in the kitchen to model the virtue of hospitality.

Throughout her life, Karen's hallmark was her beautiful smile. Even in the final days of her life, all the healthcare providers commented that such a smile could come only from a beautiful soul. The memory of that smile, and the memories of her life of service will live on in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial donations be made to the Bayou La Batre mission of the Gateway Church of Christ.
