Karen Sue Williams, 73, of Granite City, IL, died at 5:39 a.m. Fri. Sept. 12, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, IL.

She was born Oct. 19, 1951 in Granite City, IL to Lillian Geraldine (Hinman) Townsend of Swansea, IL and the late Orra Milton Townsend.

She earned her degree from SWIC and worked as an administrative assistant in property management. A talented and creative artist, she also loved to decorate and craft, especially for holidays like Christmas and Halloween. She loved making homemade Halloween costumes which helped win her son several contests.

Karen married Wayne Elmer Williams on Nov. 8, 1969 in Granite City. He preceded her in death July 9, 2025.

She is survived by a daughter, Marcee (Tom) Stegemeier of Granite City, a son, Paul Williams of Belleville, 5 grandchildren: Corey, Samuel, Logan, Aidan, and Kolbie, 3 brothers: Tom (Debbie) Townsend, Terry (Carol) Townsend, and Larry (Donna) Townsend, and 2 sisters: Pat (Kevin) Kolis, and JoAnn (Tom) Beard.

In addition to her husband and father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Orra Townsend.
