Karl Timothy Dawson went to be with his Lord on April 10, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1978, in Springfield, MO, to Timothy and Dilla Dawson, joining older brother Kevin. He graduated from Hillcrest High School and Central Bible College.
Karl dedicated his life to teaching God's Word to the younger generation. Throughout his life, he served as a children's pastor, youth leader, Christian school teacher, Junior Bible Quiz coach, and Teen Bible Quiz coach. He served in missions work in Kenya and Ethiopia, and later in China, along with short-term trips to other nations.
Through his coaching and teaching ministries, he discipled hundreds of young people globally and personally led many to Christ. His close friends knew of his great generosity, although he was reluctant to talk about his giving. He was known for his big heart for those in need, for the lost, and for children.
He is survived by his mother Dilla Dawson, brother Kevin, uncle and aunt Jerry and Janice Clutts and their sons Aaron and Joel and their families, and a host of other relatives, friends, and former students, and his cat Barnabas. He was preceded in death by his father Timothy Dawson, and his grandparents John and Margie Dawson and Roy and Bettye Freshour.
In lieu of flowers, Karl requested that donations be made to the Bible Quiz Scholarship Fund at https://giving.ag.org/donate/nym/bq_nats_schol (please add comment "In memory of Karl Dawson").
Services will be held at Greenlawn North in Springfield, MO. Visitation will be on Friday, April 18 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Saturday, April 19 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North at 10:00am with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
