CUMBERLAND – Karl Frederick Grebenstein, 87, of Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Cumberland Healthcare after a brief illness.
Karl was born on April 25, 1937, to Frederick Leo Grebenstein and Alvera M. (Becker) Grebenstein, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorotha Lou Grebenstein and his brother, Albert L. Grebenstein.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Kiff and wife, Denise; grandchildren, Victoria Griffin, of Hagerstown, Valerie Palm, of Hagerstown, and Derrick Kiff, of Cumberland; six great grandchildren; niece, Karla Grebenstein; nephew, Scott Grebenstein; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Pascoe, of Adamstown, MD.
Karl was employed by the City of Cumberland until his retirement at the age of 80. He attended the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of the Cresaptown Eagles. Karl was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved gardening and animals. He loved spending time with family.
Family will receive friends at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 2 to 5 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Shrine of SS Peter and Paul on Monday, December 30 at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
