Karl Eugene Gregg, 74, of Huffman, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in Humble, Texas.
Karl was born in Houston on June 29, 1950, to the late Lloyd V. and Mary Jewell Ham Gregg. A proud graduate of Ross S. Sterling High School's Class of 1967 in Baytown, Texas, Karl went on to serve six honorable years in the United States Navy, during which he earned his associate's degree.
A man of many passions and even deeper convictions, Karl found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life-road trips with family, hamburgers with friends, studying the Bible, coaching and playing baseball, and the laughter of his grandchildren. He served as the head scoutmaster and troop leader of Huffman Boy Scouts Troop 1984 from the late 1980s into the early 1990s, investing his time and heart into mentoring young lives.
After retiring from ExxonMobil, Karl dedicated himself to mission work, making 13 trips to Peru, spreading hope and faith to those in need. His passion for service was tireless-he was an online missionary, volunteered at food pantries, shared his faith through door-to-door evangelism, and served as a chaplain at both Memorial Hermann Northeast in Humble and the Hightower Unit of TDCJ in Dayton.
Karl was a man of unwavering faith and character-family-oriented, hardworking, strong-willed, kind-hearted, committed, and, as those who knew him would lovingly agree, just a tiny bit ornery. He lived a life full of purpose, guided by service to others and love for his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his beloved cats, Solo and Shadow.
Karl is survived by his devoted wife of 51 ½ years, Maria Gregg of Huffman; his son Tony Gregg and wife Rachel of Atascocita; his cherished grandchildren Sidney, Corbin, and Silas Gregg; his brothers Larry Gregg and wife Lila of Crosby, and Jerry Gregg of Houston; his faithful canine companion, Hope; as well as numerous other loving relatives and friends whose lives he touched.
