Karla was quite the character! I often found her doing push-ups against the copy machine at SGHS, as she made copies for her classes; always working in more fitness! She walked with purpose, had strong opinions and a great smile! She will be missed. Sincere condolences, especially to Justine, her daughter and greatest achievement as Karla made clear!

I'm proud to say that Karla Guererri was my friend for 48 years. I met Karla at Albany State University in 1978. We were roommates in the Colonial Quad Tower, then later in an apartment in downtown Albany. Karla was a good friend, a brilliant problem solver, and a graceful Tango dancer. She had a unique way of looking at things. She was analytical and practical. She was an excellent planner and organizer. I remember when she decided she would climb all the Tall Peaks in the Adirondacks. I thought she was crazy, but she did it. She was in great shape at 40 years old. She was my first friend to come visit when I moved to Florida in 2000. I visited her in NY a few times; she visited me when I went to a conference in Boston. She visited me in Florida again in 2024. I'm so happy I was able to see her in Troy in April of this year. I'm saddened that I won't be able to solve world problems with her on the phone or watch The Gilded Age with her again. She liked to say, "I'd rather regret something I did do, rather than something I didn't do" and lived her life accordingly. We went to Paris together in 1989 for the 100th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower. She was supposed to visit me in Greece next year. I will miss her.
