Katharine “Kay” Sheffield, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025. She was 96 years old.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Sheffield; her brothers, Laurence and David Weber; and her sisters, Olive Weber and Edith Shafer.Kay is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Robert Gerenski; her granddaughter, Katie (Joe) Gallo; and her great-grandson, Daniel Gallo. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, along with her cherished “girls” and devoted caregivers—Wendy Farren, Maria Delgado Sutton, and Joann Maier—who were with her for many years.
The family would like to thank the 4th floor nurses and staff of Elderwood at Brockport for their kindness and care, and RGH Hospice for making Kay's last weeks comfortable.
Born in Batavia, NY to William and Helen Weber, Kay was one of five children. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, going out to dinner, and watching her favorite old movies.
The family will receive friends 1PM - 3PM, followed by a service at 3PM on Monday, April 14th, 2025 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Sierra Club Foundation or the World Wildlife Fund.
