The Villages, FL – Katherine "Katie" Coyne, age 85, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, after a brief illness. She is survived by her daughter, Stacy Calabrese; four grandchildren, Tierney Coyne, Austin (Dakoda) Coyne, Patrick Coyne and Mackenzie Coyne; three great-grandchildren, Tierney's daughter, Emerson and Austin's sons, Nash and Beau; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Mutt" Coyne in 2022; son, Timothy Coyne in 2025; and six siblings.
Katie was born in Canandaigua and was the daughter of Phillip and Emma Russell. She attended Canandaigua schools, then she and her family moved to California, where she graduated from Huntington Beach High School, class of 1958. Katie returned to Canandaigua after graduation and met her handsome Police Officer, "Mutt". They were married June 27, 1959, in Canandaigua.
Katie worked at the former Colonial Inn in Canandaigua for several years and retired from the VA Medical Center as a Supervisor in Nutrition.
She and Bill enjoyed more than 20 years as snowbirds before moving to Florida permanently in 2020. Katie enjoyed playing cards with the "girls" and entertaining poolside. She was very proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed being with them as much as possible. Katie was an amazing Nana and her grandchildren brought her so much joy.
