Katherine Marie (Knowlton) Delaney, 82, of Lafayette, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025, at her residence with her loved ones by her side.
She was born April 5, 1942, in Walkerton to the late Harold and Pauline (Kelver) Knowlton. She was a graduate of Walkerton High School and attended Purdue University. On October 22, 1961, she married Carl Delaney in Walkerton. Carl preceded her in death on January 8, 2021.
Kathy was a proud homemaker, a past president of the Tippecanoe County Extension Homemakers, and member of the IEHA's Laughing L's. She became a Mary Kay consultant in the 1980's and was a great friend to the many women who became her customers and sister consultants over the years. She also served as program chairman and in other positions for the Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program in Tippecanoe County. She and her family volunteered at the Fort Ouiatenon Blacksmith booth for decades, and she was a co-author of a book about French colonial dress.
Within her family circle, Kathy was instrumental in planning reunions for the Knowlton and Kelver families. She was also an active crafter, particularly enjoying sewing, quilting, and knitting. She often encouraged others to "cultivate an attitude of gratitude."
She is survived by her 3 children, Dawn (Thomas) Beutner of Annandale, VA, Scott Delaney of Lafayette, and Eric (Amy) Delaney of Portland, OR; 2 siblings, Sharon (Ray) Halsey of Tyner and Gene (Diane) Knowlton of North Liberty; and 5 grandchildren, Katherine Beutner, John Beutner, Corwin Delaney, Jacob Delaney, and Sarah Delaney.
Along with her husband, Carl and her parents, Harold and Pauline, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jerry and David Knowlton.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 4, 2025, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Walkerton with Tim Davis officiating.

Kathy was my very first friend in Lafayette after I moved here in 1997. We shared years together in Junior Miss, Mary Kay and Home and Family/Purdue Extension activities. She was a great friend and mentor.

What a shock to lose my dear friend! I last met her in Lafayette mid-November to deliver the nuts she had ordered from our Newton Co Extension Homemakers. We both served as Lafayette District Reps and on the IEHA Board when I was state president 1995-1996. My deepest condolences to her children and siblings. Will miss her so much. Nancy Jo Prue

So saddened by this news, but grateful to know her the past 11 years as a sister Mary Kay Consultant on the Southside
of Lafayette and Purdue Alumni. We most often saw each other at the post office. Did not know she was from Walkerton. My Father on law was an eye Dr there for years. She loved and served every one she knew. Lifting in prayer all who knew and loved her.

I met Kathy through Mary Kay. She was the sweetest person always giving and caring to others a classy Mary Kay woman from the way she dressed, spoke and acted in above all the way Jesus would say to treat others. I will miss you, friend.
