Timothy G. Batta, 73, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. He was born February 9 th, 1952, in Lafayette, IN, to the late C. Edward and Grace (Kirts) Batta. As a child he was a lover of coloring, drawing, and a short length of rope. "One could do almost anything with a piece of rope."

Tim attended West Lafayette High School and graduated from Harrison High School in 1972. He was also a graduate of IVY Tech.

On July 20, 1974, he married Donna Jean Hartley in Lafayette and she survives.

Tim was a volunteer fire fighter at Wabash Township from 1971 to 1976. He move to Monticello and was a firefighter there from 1973 to 1978. He joined the Lafayette Fire Department in December of 1978. Over the years, Tim also ran Batta Fire Dept Shops and serviced fire trucks all over the midwest. At LFD, he moved through the ranks, attaining Assistant Chief before his retirement in May of 2002. Tim worked another 7 years in Emergency Management until he fully retired.

Tim was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. As his family grew, he was an active Cub Scout leader as well as a backstage crew member for Lafayette Ballet performances at the Long Center. Tim enjoyed restoring old wagons into chuck wagons, training two search and rescue dogs, volunteering at Hoosier Burn Camp, and daydream-drawing up plans on grid paper for future projects.

Surviving along with his wife are his children Timothy "Scott" (Leslie) Batta of Xenia, OH, Kelly (Brett) Beach of Englewood, OH, Joseph (Crystal) Batta of Livingston, MT, grandchildren Tony and Annabel Beach, Ireland and Cullen Batta.

Also surviving are his brothers Anthony (Janine) Batta of Lafayette and Tom Batta of West Lafayette.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the Last Alarm service at 12:45 pm on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Grace United Methodist Church, 15 North 22nd Street, Lafayette. Funeral will begin at 1:00 pm following the Last Alarm service. Rev. Jennifer Lewis will be officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette, IN.
