Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford
Katherine Kellum Huckaby, 96, passed away on Wednesday, November 05, 2025, at her residence in Oxford.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 08, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford (601 Commerce Parkway,
Oxford, MS, 38655). The funeral service celebrating her life will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Coleman Funeral Home, with Bro. Calvin Warren officiating. Katherine will be laid to rest beside her late husband at Forest Hill Memorial Park South.
Katherine graced this world with her presence on November 10, 1928, in the Yocona community as one of the four daughters born to the late Leland Kellum and Lucy King Kellum.
She was a woman of deep faith, servant leadership, and unwavering love for others. Katherine was a longtime member of Olive Branch Primitive Baptist Church, where she worshiped faithfully and lived out her belief in caring for her community through acts of compassion and kindness.
Katherine found great joy in creating and nurturing. She was an accomplished seamstress who used her talent to make beautifully crafted clothing for family, friends, and anyone in need. Her sewing was more than a skill-it was a ministry of love sewn into every stitch. She also expressed her care through cooking, preparing meals that brought comfort, tradition, and togetherness to countless gatherings.
Above all, Katherine believed in caring for people. She was a devoted friend, a thoughtful visitor, and a steady source of support to those around her. She never hesitated to check on someone, lend a hand, or meet a need-often before it was even spoken. Her home and heart were always open, offering warmth, wisdom, and prayer.
Katherine was a true Proverbs 31:28 mother and wife-her children rise up and call her blessed, and her family praises her legacy of love, strength, and faithful devotion. She led her home with grace, compassion, and steadfast dedication, embodying the heart of a servant and the spirit of a woman who honored God in all she did.
Katherine's legacy is one of generosity, compassion, and strong faith. She lived her life devoted to serving others, leaving a lasting impression on all who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her love will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
Katherine leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence; her son, Ron Huckaby and his wife Jan of
Oxford, Mississippi; one sister, Dorothy Jean Godwin of Collierville, Tennessee; one daughter-in-law, Monnie Huckaby of Southaven, Mississippi; grandchildren: two grandchildren of her heart: Johnathan Clark and his wife Megan of Rowlett, Texas; and, Corey Clark and his wife Amanda of Canton, Mississippi; four great grandchildren of her heart: Noah Clark of Rowlett, Texas; Caleb Clark of Canton, Mississippi; Jace Clark of Canton, Mississippi; and, Mason Clark of Canton, Mississippi; and a beloved host of nieces and nephews.
The loved ones who departed this life before her include: her husband, Hasel Dean Huckaby; one son, Robert Lee Huckaby; her parents, Leland Kellum and Lucy King Kellum; and two sisters, Mary Louise Carter and Peggy Ann Kellum Carter.
In place of traditional flowers, the family has requested that donations be given to the
charity of the donor's choice.
