Katherine Hurt Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 14, 2025.
Katherine Aurelia Hurt, age 66, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2025 at her home. She was born the daughter of Joseph Daniel South and Louella (Tuck) Marshall on September 24, 1959 in Clarksville, Ohio. Katherine was a determined and spirited woman who proudly made history as the first female driver at the Southern Alabama Speedway. When she wasn't behind the wheel, Katherine dedicated herself to supporting her family and her husband as a military wife, facing each new chapter with strength and grace. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bowling, and could often be found relaxing while playing games on her phone. Katherine had a warm sense of humor and a big heart, and she brought joy to everyone lucky enough to know her. She is survived by her children, Jessica Hutchinson, Michael Phillips, and Louella Branham; grandchildren, Trevor, Dalton, Taylor, Savanna, Hannah, Brianna, Kinsley, Shelby, and Danna; great grandchildren, Stella, Bexley, Bobbi, Riley, Rose and Roman; and her siblings, Daniel South and Jennifer. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hurt; her father; her step-dad, Donald Hutchinson; granddaughter, Kayla; and brother, Joseph South. Katherine will be laid to rest next to her husband at Meadow Lawn Memorial Park in Enterprise, Alabama.
