Earl M. Stone, Sr., age 62 of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday morning October 12, 2025. He was born September 28, 1963 in West Union, the son of the late Elwood and Lorrene (Rhoden) Stone. Earl was a member of the Samantha Bible Baptist Church and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his three children, Earl Stone, Jr. and Samuel Stone, both of Winchester, and Kim (Greg) Garvie of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Samantha and Christopher Garvie; his former mother-in-law Charlotte A. Shulock; his wife, Melody (Urmaza) Stone, whom he married July 15, 2025; siblings Walter (Peggy) Stone, Thomas (Kathy) Stone, Nancy (Charles) Hughes, Billy Stone, Clarence (René) Stone, Carl Stone, and Julie (Chad) Watson; former in-laws Albert (Teresa) Prye, Georgette (Mark) Coalt, Samuel (Angela) Prye, Kenton Moore and Jesse Prye; as well numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte E. (Prye) Stone, whom he had married on April 5, 1985 in Hillsboro. She passed away July 24, 2019. He was also preceded in death by three siblings, Johnny Ray Stone, Rosanna Ellen Gibson and Linda L. Kemp; and a brother-in-law, Billy Prye. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025 at the Samantha Bible Baptist Church, where a funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Chad Watson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sugar Tree Ridge Cemetery. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Earl, please visit our floral store.
