Katherine Chavez Jacobsen passed away on December 5, 2022 in Beaver, UT. She was born on January 30, 1955, to Joseph Marie Chavez and Almira "LaRue" Hall Chavez. She was the youngest of 9 children. She was born and raised in Richfield, Utah where she married Mayo Jacobsen on April 13, 1978. They raised a family of 6 children and later divorced.
Katherine spent the last many years of her life dealing with many medical problems that prohibited her from working, but prior to that she spent 21 years as a front desk clerk at a hotel, and most of her working years she spread herself between two or three jobs at a time. She was a member of the LDS Church. She moved to Beaver in 2014 and met many new friends. She will be remembered for her ability to strike up a conversation with any one and her loving nature.
She is survived by her children: Kami Jensen (Austin Mortensen) Beaver, UT, Rodney (Nikki) Jacobsen, Richfield, UT, Robyn Jacobsen, Mesquite, NV, and Layne (Sandra) Jacobsen, Saratoga Springs, UT, as well as 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Also her siblings: Kent (Billie) Chavez, Phyllis Armstrong, Darlene Collier, Betty Lurenz, Jolene Maldonado, and LaReesa (Ray A.) Baldwin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Jeanice Colby, Jeanine Chavez, and Tonya Barney.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Beaver 3rd ward LDS Church located at 220 N. Main Street, Beaver, UT. Viewings will be held on Friday, December 9, from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, December 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent and a live-stream of the service viewed at www.mortuary.org.
