Katherine Larson Obituary

Katherine P. Larson

Lyme Center, NH - Katherine P. Larson (Kathy), 85, passed away at her home in Lyme Center, NH on February 20, 2026. She was born on December 23, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio to Greek immigrants John and Helen (Stajos) Pappas. She grew up in Cleveland Heights and graduated from Allegheny College with a degree in Biology.

She married her husband Lee Larson on January 12, 1963 and together they shared 63 years. She was a resident for many years first in Granville, Ohio and then in Lyme Center, New Hampshire. She had two older brothers, Milton Pappas of NY, NY and William Pappas (deceased). She had two children, Thomas (deceased) and Sara Roy of Auburn, Maine. She had four grandsons, Charles, Tyler, Benjamin, and Zachery.

She was a lifelong bird watcher and wildlife enthusiast. While living in Ohio she ran a small farm with her husband raising all their food and specializing in raising and selling market lambs. She owned a small business, Little Bit Farm, manufacturing and selling over 20 flavors of jams and jellies.

An inveterate traveler, she visited many states and countries on all continents except for Antarctica.

She was passionate about land conservation, the instigator and a Founding Trustee of the Licking Land Trust, Granville, Ohio. After moving to New Hampshire, Kathy was a volunteer, Board Member and Lands Committee Chair for the Upper Valley Land Trust. She was a Founding Trustee of Community Care of Lyme. Kathy was a long-time member of the Pearl Dimick Fund and taught tai chi in Lyme Center for several years. She worked at creating a neighborhood out of the residents on her short road. With her husband she was chosen to be Lyme's Citizen of the Year for 2025.

She was an avid hiker and climbed many of New Hampshire's 4000 footers.

Smart, loyal, kind, conscientious, hard worker, compassionate, generous, loving, funny, organized, independent, well spoken are words that describe Kathy.

The family thanks her VNH Hospice team and her physician Elizabeth Mann for their caring and expert care during her final days.

Contributions in her memory can be sent to Upper Valley Land Trust, 19 Buck Road, Hanover, NH 03755.

The family plans to have a gathering to celebrate her life in the spring or early summer.
