Katherine (Katy) P. Mize

February 19, 1937 - January 4, 2022

Our Lord opened the gates of heaven and welcomed Katherine (Katy) P. Mize on January 4, 2022 in Yuma, AZ.

She was born on February 19, 1937 in Spokane, WA to James A. Green and Ann E. (Larkin) Green. Katy graduated from San Juan Union High School, Citrus Heights, CA in 1955 and from Chadron State College, Nebraska in 1995. She worked as a bookkeeper for the United States Postal Services in San Diego, CA until retirement.

Katy was very involved in the Yuma Community Theater, Prayers and Squares, St. Paul's and Christ the Redeemer parishes, Yuma Genealogy Society, AARP Tax Aide and the Order of St Luke.

Her husband, William H. Mize preceded her in death, as well as her mother, Ann Larkin Gilliland, father, James Green and brother, Alvin Hartig.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Flahive (Tom) of Colorado and step-daughters, Joan Mize and Laura LaRue (Steve) both of California. Grandchildren; Brianna McCauley, Justin Flahive, Alise Flahive, Kellen Flahive, Christine Flahive, Taylor LaRue and Devin LaRue.

A memorial service to celebrate Katy's life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 3:00 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Yuma, AZ.

Her ashes will be laid to rest in Bentley, Kansas next to her husband and Spokane, Washington next to her father.
