Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home - CentralKatherine Sherrill Orr, 61, passed away on November 8, 2025. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend.
Born on February 3, 1964, in Schenectady, NY, she was a daughter of the late Max Douglas Sherrill and Emily Semmes Sherrill.
Katy dedicated her professional life to caring for others, serving as a pediatric nurse and working with the South Carolina Department of Health for many years. She was a proud graduate of Clemson University, a member of the Pi Beta Phi fraternity, and was an enthusiastic fan of all Clemson Sports.
Katy retired from Clemson University’s Student Health Service earlier this year. Katy had long wanted to work for Clemson and joined the Student Health Service team during COVID.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Katherine was known as a lovely person who never met a stranger. Beyond her working career, she loved working with children and served as a Sunday School teacher at St. Andrew Catholic Church.
Katy is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Michael Orr; her beloved children, Emily Danielle Hull (Kai) of Ellenwood, GA, and Thomas Michael Orr of Central; her brothers, Doug Sherrill (Honore), David Sherrill (Mary), and Adam Sherrill (Ali); her sister, Margaret Seo (Kaoru); her loyal dog, Rocky; and many beloved friends at St. Andrew Catholic Church, as well as numerous other friends and family.
A Mass in Katy’s memory will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Clemson, SC, on November 20, 2025, at 11:00am with a reception to follow.
