Katherine "Kathy" Annette Chavez Smothermon

Katherine Annette Smothermon, born on November 23, 1960, in

Oklahoma City, OK and went to her eternal home on August

26, 2025,

at her earthly home in Piedmont, OK, due to a 4-year battle with

cancer. She was the beloved daughter of the late Jose and Claudia

Chavez.

Kathy, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives

of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth

was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.

Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and

many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you

remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way Kathy

lived it, and for the profound impact she had on the lives of those who

had the pleasure of knowing her.

Kathy is survived and missed dearly by her loving husband, William

(Bill) Smothermon of 40 years; and her four children, Melanie Brady,

Samaria Duncan, Shelby Smothermon, and Joseph Smothermon.

Forever cherished and remembered by her eleven grandchildren,

Braylen, Camry, and Avery Brady; Jayden and Makayla Duncan;

Nevaeh and Logan Trapp, Sophia Smothermon; Kiera, Jaxson, and

Asher Smothermon, and her great-grandson, Asa Brady.

Kathy grew up in a large and loving family. She was preceded in death

by her brothers Billy, Johnny, and Ernie, and sisters Julia, Josie, Alice,

Frances, and Gloria. She is survived by her brothers Freddie and

Timmy as well as sisters Rosie, Mary, and Ronnie.

Kathy began a new chapter in life as a military wife when Bill joined the

U.S. Navy in 1988. Embarking on many adventures with strength and

resilience. No matter what path she walked, she worked hard and gave

her all. She was happiest when cooking and baking alongside her

grandchildren, passing down recipes, traditions, and laughter. Kathy

was an amazing cake decorator, building wedding and birthday cakes

that, as was said many times by clients, looked too good to eat. Kathy

was a caregiver and school aide for a quadriplegic boy during his

middle school years. Kathy completed medical assistant school and

then enjoyed working in a family practice clinic. Kathy's servitude was

her greatest gift for GOD!!!

Her faith was a guiding light throughout her journey, carrying her

through challenges and ultimately leading her home to her Savior.

Kathy will forever be remembered for her devotion to her family, her

kind heart, and her love of dogs.

Kathy's legacy is one of love, servitude, strength, and faith-a gift she

leaves with everyone who knew her.

Burial will follow the service at: Sunnylane Cemetery, located at 4000 SE

29th St, Del City, OK 73115

Kathy's family will serve as pallbearers.
