Katherine "Kitty" (Fabre) Zagaruyka, 91, joined her loving and devoted husband Fred "Zack" Zagaruyka in eternal joy, happiness and rest on June 22, 2025. She was born April 19th, 1934, in Mobile, Alabama to Pearl M. & Frank S. Fabre and was the last surviving of their 11 children.
She set her cap for a young Yankee airman, and they were married in 1952. They raised their 5 children in Mobile, AL and were members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church until 1971. Their Civil Service careers took them to Overland Park, KS, Troy, IL, and eventually to Oklahoma City, OK, where they were members of Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Del City, OK. As members of St. Paul's, she and Zack were actively involved in the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Meals on Wheels, and the Golden Agers. They also volunteered in Friends of the Library. Kitty spent the last 6 1/2 years living with her daughter Tess in Lecompton, KS.
Both Kitty and Zack retired from their Civil Service careers while in Oklahoma City, OK, where they enjoyed travel and were very involved in the lives of their children and grandchildren.
Kitty was preceded in death by their youngest son Fred J. (Freddie Joe) Zagaruyka. Kitty & Zack (Mom & Pops) will live on in the memories of their children; Edward V. (Ed) and wife Becky J. Zagaruyka, Theresa M. (Tess) Zagaruyka and partner James W. (Jim) Spence, James N. (Nick) and wife Jacqueline R. (Jackie) Zagaruyka, Thomas A. (Tom) and wife Vikki L. Zagaruyka, and Daughter-in-Law Terry L. Zagaruyka, 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, along with a very large extended family and many wonderful friends.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00AM at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, 2648 NE Jake Dunn Rd., Elgin, OK 73538, where Kitty's urn will be placed with Zack's at Site A2 of the Columbarium. Everyone is also invited to join the family for a celebration of Kitty's life on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 1:00 until 4:00, in the Ford Chapel at Barnes-Friederich & Pope Funeral Home, 305 S. Sooner Rd. Midwest City, OK 73110, with a reception to follow.
