Devoted wife of Kevin Tenge for 46 years; cherished mother of Kara (Jeff) Surber, Kortney (Dan) Morton, Kraig (Sherry) Tenge, and Kasey (Tom) Frey; loving grandmother of Emersen, Konnor, Kassidy, Delaney, Kennedy, Reise, Jace, Leo, and Rowan; beloved daughter of Iris Jean Richards and the late Skip Richards; admired sister of Randy Richards, Mike Richards, Karen (Gregg) Danz, Jill (Tim) Bone, and John (Cindy) Richards; dear sister-in-law of Kurt (Donna) Tenge and Pat Schmidt; aunt, cousin, and friend to all.
Kathie will be fondly remembered as a vibrant, loving soul who cherished making memories with her family above all else. Always staying active, Kathie embraced life with energy and joy by kayaking on the water and taking her daily walks. She found great pride in antiquing alongside her beloved husband, eventually running a charming antique shop that reflected her impeccable taste and love for the past. Her keen eye for design was on full display within her home as well.
Kathie's home was surrounded by the most beautiful garden, a reflection of her deep connection with nature and her talent for creating beauty. Her green thumb was admired by all, and her flowers never failed to draw compliments from neighbors and passersby. She was known for her passion for shopping and her delight in celebrating the holidays - always making them magical occasions for her family.
In quieter moments, Kathie enjoyed watching crime dramas and movies and she found comfort in the company of animals and the peace of the natural world. Her love could actually be tasted through her legendary chocolate chip cookies. Above all, Kathie cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her warmth, enthusiasm, and zest for life leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed and forever adored.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Humane Society of Missouri.
