JoAnne Chiu, a devoted woman of faith and love, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by her cherished family. JoAnne was a pillar of her community – a beloved church member, Bible school teacher, and longtime librarian whose quiet strength and steadfast heart touched all who knew her.
Born in Greene County, Arkansas, to Harvey and Alma (nee Cline) Puckett, and later, her step mother, Almeda (Wiseman) Puckett. JoAnne lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and service. She found great joy in teaching the Word of God to generations of children as a Bible school teacher and was known for her thoughtful, gentle spirit that made the church a more welcoming place for everyone. Her deep love of learning and literature led her to a meaningful career as a librarian, where she inspired countless others to discover the joy of reading.
Outside of her professional and church life, JoAnne had a gift for creating beauty with her hands. She was an avid crocheter and knitter, lovingly crafting blankets, scarves, potholders, and keepsakes for friends and family. Whether with a good book in her hands or a needle and yarn, JoAnne found peace in simple joys. But more than anything, she treasured her time with her family – sharing stories, laughter, meals, and memories that will remain with her loved ones forever.
JoAnne leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and grace. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Ning Chiu; sisters Peggy (Leo) Caddy and Charlotte (Mike) Lehnhoff; nieces and nephews Dorothea (Charlie), Raymond (Christy), Bryan (Mary Kay), John (Amy), Tim (Kimberly) and Michelle (Tom); great nieces and nephews, Kara, Tina, Jordan, Phillip, Katherine, Elizabeth, Victoria, Hannah, Ian, Elliana, Noele, Caden, Nick (Kait), Cole, Thomas, Jacob and Nathan; Sisters and brother-in-law Mon (Joe) Downs, Wai (Pam) Chiu, Bing (Ron Buck) Dempewolf; nieces and nephews NaTasha (Carlos), Michael (Janet), Brandon (Lacey), Mike (Amy), Jon (Nicole), Lauren, Anthony, Kaden, Kameryn; great nieces and nephews Reagan, Makenna, Cali, Carter, Max, Charlie, Fitz, Conner, Brianna, Maelynn, Jonathan Jr., Andre and Jessiah, who will carry her spirit forward with every prayer, every act of kindness, and every lovely, stitched gift.
