Kathleen Brunscheen Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Kathleen "Kathy" Brunscheen, 81, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Born in Kenmore, New York, on April 20, 1944, she was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Cassidy, and is now reunited with her beloved husband, Merlin Brunscheen, who passed in 2004.
A longtime Florida resident, Kathy spent 31 years in Pompano Beach before relocating to Clermont in 2016 to be closer to her family. She dedicated many years to Florida Atlantic University, where she served as a valued member of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters until her retirement in 2011. Her kindness, work ethic, and steady presence left a lasting mark on colleagues and students alike.
She is survived by her son, Michael Brunscheen - Commissioner for the City of Altamonte Springs - his wife Kelly, and her two grandsons, Jacob and Eli. The boys loved to bake with Gramma, have her read to them, and play Candyland - moments that will remain treasured memories of her gentle, loving presence.
She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters Geraldine (Bill), her favorite Liverpool Rummy competitors, and Maureen (Fred), as well as extended family and dear friends whose lives she enriched through quiet compassion and strength.
In lieu of flowers, Kathy requested donations be made to causes close to her heart: • Habitat for Humanity (https://form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/habitat-for-humanity-seminole---apopka/general-donation) • The Parkinson's Foundation (https://www.parkinsoncf.org/donate)
Kathy's nurturing spirit, unwavering devotion, and calm resilience will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
