Kathleen I Carani, (nee Ingersoll), Beloved wife of Robert P.; daughter of the late Donald and the late Margaret Ingersoll; Sister of the late Richard (Jerrie) Ingersoll, and Mary Shore; Fond aunt of many.
Kathy graduated from St Eulalia Catholic School in Maywood, Trinity High School in River Forest and Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. She earned her Masters Degree from the University of Illinois. She devoted her life to Early Childhood Special Education. She was a teacher, supervisor and retired as Executive Director of Proviso Area Center for Exceptional Children. She loved to sew and from an early age was involved in the arts. Kathy was a member of the Maywood Chamber of Commerce holding the positions of Secretary and Treasurer. Thru the chamber she became involved with Maywood Fine Arts, an organization that she would be a part of for 10+ years. She was a board member and ultimately became the Board President. She would sew many of the costumes the children wore in their performances.
Kathy loved to travel and along with her husband Bob, and two beloved dogs, she had the opportunity to visit many parts of the US in their motorhome. She wintered in Florida for a number of years.
Kathy fought a battle with Dementia for 7+ years. This horrific disease claimed her on January 11, 2025. Her pain is over and she is in heaven looking down on us.
Her services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Memorial Visitation will be from 10:00am until time of service 12:00 noon atHursen Funeral Home, SW corner of Roosevelt & Mannheim Roads, Hillside/Westchester.
