Kathleen Casey Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Butterfield Home and Chapel Funeral and Cremation Services on Jul. 11, 2024.
Kathleen Casey, 92 of Warwick died peacefully with family by her side on July 8, 2024 after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Charles Casey. Kathleen was born in Providence and was raised in the Auburn section of Cranston. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Healy) Aylesworth.
Kathleen graduated from St. Francis Xavier's Academy in 1951. She started her career at Shepard's Department store in Providence where she worked in the auditing department for six years. At Shepard's she met one of her lifelong friends, Ethel DiNezza. Ethel and Kathleen traveled together and spent countless hours conversing on the telephone, daily up until recently.
After Shepard's, Kathleen moved onto Narragansett Electric. She started as a clerk in 1957 and later was promoted to distribution assistant. She left Narragansett Electric when she married and moved to Clinton, CT where she resided for many years before moving back to Rhode Island with her husband.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Chuck Casey, Kevin Casey (Kristin), Mary- Catherine Sullivan (Jerry), Maureen Wickersham (Mark) and Elizabeth Burns (David), her loving sisters, Joan Aylesworth and Carol Hornung and her husband Gary, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren (and one on the way), and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was also the sister to the late Eileen, Helen, William, Robert, and Gerald Aylesworth and Mary Taylor.
Kathleen loved to travel. In addition to many US states and Islands, she traveled internationally, including to Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Venezuela, Barbados, Mexico, and Canada. When asked where her favorite spot was, she always said Hawaii. It's not a surprise since she loved the ocean and flowers. She passed on her love for the ocean, beaches, gardening, and the thirst for travel to her children, grandchildren, and beloved nieces.
Kathleen spent decades in Pt. Judith during the summer months and later as a full- time resident during her retirement. Later, she moved to the Cowesett section of Warwick and most recently was a resident of Brentwood by the Bay Assistant Living in Warwick.
Kathleen was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great in Warwick for many years. She enjoyed attending church regularly and when she was no longer able to get out to mass, was visited by Cheryl Berube, Pastoral Minister. She enjoyed her visits with Cheryl and looked forward to them each week.
Her family would like to thank the staff and residents of Brentwood by the Bay for the support and laughter they shared with Kathleen over the past two years. Additionally, to the staff of Eden Hospice for their love and compassion during her illness.
