Kathleen Connell Obituary

Kathleen Mary Connell, 88
Lynn - Kathleen Mary Connell died peacefully at her home on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Theresa (Keaney) Connell. She graduated from St. Patrick's Elementary School in 1950 and St. Mary's Girls High School, class of 1954. Kathleen was an active member of St. Patrick's Church and a member of the Ladies Sodality. She was currently a Communicant of St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Parish.
Kathleen had attended North Shore Community College and earned certification to become a teacher-aide assistant. She had worked for 22 years for the City of Lynn School Department as a teacher-aide assistant in the Special Education Department; "a job that she loved", until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of the Lynn Teachers Union Local 1037. Kathleen especially liked working with children to help them overcome learning disabilities and she often said how lucky she was to have a job that she loved. Her contagious, positive spirit made her loved by many. She had also previously worked as a bus monitor for Travel Time Bus Company for 6 ½ years, and for the City of Lynn Election Department as a Poll Clerk and Warden.
Kathleen spent the entirety of her life loving and caring for her family and friends. Her life was given to helping people. She disappointed and hurt no one, and treated everyone as she would want to be treated; "with kindness and love". Kathleen will be sorely missed by her family and friends that she cared for throughout her life. She will also be remembered for her ever present bright smile and her laugh! She lived her life with strong faith in God and always with charity, these were the core of her beliefs.
She is survived by daughters; Susan E. Carroll and her husband Jack, Kristen E. Giovanniello and her husband Chris, Mary-Beth Muckian, and Kathleen M. Birmingham and her husband Mike, a son John K. Muckian, 8 grandchildren, who were the delight of her life, Jack, Michael, Billy, Owen, Aidan, Keilan, Adele, and Terrence, a sister-in-law Mrs. William (Margot) Connell, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Maureen A. Muckian, the sister of the late William F. Connell, and Rev. John K. Connell, and the grandmother of the late Kerry Shannon Carroll.
Service Information: A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 10:00AM in St. Mary's Church 8 South Common St., Lynn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be at St. Mary's Church, prior to Mass from 9:00AM-10:00AM.
