Kathleen M. DeRemer passed away peacefully on May 18, 2024. She was born in Akron on November 16, 1953. Kathy was a treasured and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend to so many. She had a zest for life and made every holiday a special occasion.
Kathy retired from AT&T after 33 years of service. Her greatest joy came when she was surrounded by her family and friends who lovingly called her “Sarge” as she was an enthusiastic hostess for many varied activities. She didn’t miss a chance to cheer for her loved ones on the field or on the stage. She was an amazing mother who loved her kids and grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Kate Semelsberger, brother Larry Semelsberger, and son-in-law Allan Carleton.
Kathy was married to her husband Gary for 54 years. They lived in Cuyahoga Falls where they raised their family and became an integral part of the community. In addition to her husband Gary she is survived by sons Gary (Pamela), Jeff (Michele), daughter Lori, (Ann); grandchildren, Kyle, Jacob, Jacqueline, Tyler, JT, and Maggi; sister Nancy Plemons; brother Tom Semelsberger; and best friends Kathy Hartz and Judy Coykendall.
Kathy’s favorite quote was “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.” Her favorite words of advice were “Let it ride.”
Calling hours will be held Friday, May 24 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Clifford Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 25 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
